About a week ago I came across this tiny old house on Kolonnenstraße. I instantly fell in love with it, and have returned a few times since – but never got the opportunity to take a proper photo, as there were always cars parking in front of the house. Today I was lucky, and it was finally presenting itself in the best possible light. The building has obviously passed it’s peak a long time ago – the dusty, poorly equipped shop-window of the clock store doesn’t live up to the promises made on the sign above the door (“permanent stock of high-class clocks”) and the shop to it’s left looks completely abandoned. Only the open windows above hint the presence of tenants. But it’s too gloomy inside to be able to make out any details. There’s a lot of renovating going on in the surrounding buildings at the moment, and construction noise is echoing throughout the street. The little building with the old-fashioned signs, literally wedged in between two large appartment buildings, might go unnoticed if not for it’s anachronistic idleness.
