Das seit 2008 bestehende online-Bilderarchiv “Wir waren so frei – Momentaufnahmen 1989-1990”, das in Zusammenarbeit der Deutschen Kinemathek und der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung entstanden ist, hat mittlerweile fast 7000 private Fotos, Filme und Geschichten gesammelt. “Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Bildgeschichten aller, die einen Fotoapparat oder eine Filmkamera nutzten, um diese Stimmungen und Erfahrungen zu dokumentieren. Familienbilder, Reisen, Demonstrationen, Mauerfall und die schnelle Veränderung jeglicher Strukturen – sei es politisch, sozial oder architektonisch – sind die großen Themen der Bilder. ” heißt es auf der Website. Die Struktur des Online-Archivs erlaubt eine sehr gezielte Suche nach bestimmten Orten, Personen und im Falle Berlins sogar teilweiser bestimmter Straßen. Family pictures, travels, protests, the Fall of the Wall and the speedy transformation of all types of structures – be they political, social or architectural – these are the dominant themes in the pictures.” it says on the website.
The geo-tagged collection of free, mostly public domain images and photos is easily searchable and (in the case of Berlin) some of the historic buildings, streets and places even have their own categories.
